A final year of freedom before starting school
Later this week my seven-year-old daughter will return to school after the long summer break. She’s left the infant playground behind and will join the big kids in the junior yard.

My eldest daughter, Helen, recently started Year Two at primary school. As she’s getting older, her education and the teaching methods used are getting more formal. This is hardly surprising, it’s what you’d expect. There has, however, been one very significant change; homework. The quantity and variety of homework has increased exponentially.
So that’s it, my baby’s started school. Although of course she isn’t a baby, she’s a little girl. It’s just that I can’t get over how quickly we’ve reached this milestone in her life. It seems like only yesterday I was cutting her umbilical cord. She’s been going almost a week now and I think
