New born lamb

We have a family tradition at this time of year. We always try and go for a day out lambing.

One of the new born lambs we saw yesterday.

That’s exactly what we did yesterday, paying a visit to Gaston Farm in West Sussex. Pictured here is a lamb with its mother moments after being born.

Unfortunately, I had the wrong camera lens with me so I couldn’t get a close up, which is what I really wanted. Even so, I like the fact the lamb is trying to feed.

Visiting the farm was a reminder that spring is finally here. We got to see the lambs and newly-born chicks and even took a tractor ride around the farm itself.

Helen and Izzy had great fun admiring the animals and even fed some of the sheep. They had been stuck indoors all morning so it was great to get them outside in the afternoon.

As I usually do on a Sunday, I’m joining in with the #MySundayPhoto linky hosted by the brilliant Photalife blog. If you click on the badge below you can visit the linky and admire photographs taken by other bloggers.

I must also take this opportunity to wish you mothers the very best for Mother’s Day. Whatever you and the family are doing to celebrate, I hope you have a great day.

PS While I have your attention, can I be cheeky and draw your attention to a competition I am presently running? All the details are in this blog post. It’s really simple, all you have to do is subscribe to my YouTube channel and you could win a Gtech Multi cordless vacuum cleaner and car kit for £174. It’s ideal for keeping your family motor clean (something I find is a constant struggle!).

It’s a beautiful photo, I like the natural colours which make the lovely little lamb standout even more. Glad you had a lovely day. #MySundayPhoto

There are some very natural colours aren’t there? We had a wonderful day and hope you had a great weekend too.

What a lovely photo! I like the fact that it’s not a close-up as you have the sheep in the foreground providing a sort of frame to it.

You’re the third person to have made that comment. I’m beginning to think my desire to achieve perfection was misplaced.

Alas, we didn’t get the chance to feed any lambs milk. Wish we had! We had a good day nonetheless.

You’re the second person to have said that. Maybe I was right not to use that lens?

Well yes, I would have lost the sheep in the foreground. I wasn’t sure if they added or took something away from the image. From your comment, I’ll assume they are a bonus!

We went a couple of weeks ago and it’s just so sweet to see all the young lambs bleating away. Our toddler had a huge trantrum though as he wanted their milk!

Ah, they were being bottle fed I guess? Didn’t see any of that going on on this occasion, but I’ve seen it done in the past. Glad your toddler got to experience some lambing though.

Living in Wales I love this time of year as we see all the beautiful lambs in the fields. Reminds me that Spring and hopefully the change to nice weather is on its way!

I certainly hope it is on the way. Three days of sunshine back to back and I will declare cider season officially open.

Regardless of lens, its a lovely photo. I took my youngest last week, she was desperate to help feed the lambs!

Glad you like the image regardless of my lens failure. It is one of those times when the subject matter speaks for itself.

This is such a beautiful photo. It looks to me like the rest of the sheep are forming a protective barrier around them 🙂 #MySundayPhoto

Thanks Victoria. I hadn’t thought of it like that but yes, they are making a protective barrier aren’t they?

So lovely seeing the newly born lambs at this time of year. We’re hoping to see some at our local Open Air Museum over the coming weeks.
