Although I haven’t written a huge number of style-focused posts over recent weeks, it has been a busy-old time behind the scenes. Last Saturday presented me with an opportunity I’d been looking for; to showcase a new outfit and GANT top that I’ve been desperate to wear for a while.
The timing was superb. A couple of days beforehand, I’d spent a morning at the London School of Barbering where my hair was re-styled and I received a cut throat razor shave (I’ll be writing more about this experience in a few days). In other words, it’s a new year and I had a new, clean-shaven look to reveal to the world!
It was also a glorious day and we had decided to head off with the kids to Brighton. I was going to put Mrs Adams in charge of the camera for once and get her to take some images down a small side street I am familiar with. It’s a picturesque street that doesn’t allow car parking so there would have been minimal visual clutter and the buildings are tall enough to provide shade from the harsh sun.
As luck would have it, the street I had in mind was hosting a flea market on the day so my plans were dashed. Instead the images were taken on a nearby residential road with a couple of additional shots taken on the beach.
So what am I wearing? The top is the GANT Barstripe heavy polo in navy blue and red. It’s made in a glorious soft-touch cotton and is very warm indeed. The thermometer was hovering around 0˚celcius when these pics were taken. I won’t deny being cold, but it could have been a lot worse.
Typical for GANT, there are double vents on either side of the garment plus double-truck hems. It’s a great, good quality item and ideal smart-casual occasions.
On the subject of GANT, I thoroughly recommend it’s men’s scent. I wrote about it just before Christmas and think it’s fantastic.
I’ve teamed the shirt with a pair of Nudie thin finn slim jeans. There’s a story behind these jeans. I got them in May 2015. The instructions stated I needed to break them in by wearing them every day for six months before washing them.
I just couldn’t face doing that. This sounded like a slightly odd thing to do. Aside from anything else, they are slim fit. Although they are very comfortable, I simply couldn’t wear slim fit for that long! I met Nudie part of the way and wore them once a week for six months. They’re about to be washed for the first time. I’ll let you know what impact washing them has!
I do like to wear scarfs from time to time. As it was a very cold day, I put on this, cotton, gun-metal grey number. It’s 100% cotton and although a couple of years old, it was the first time I’d ever worn this particular one.
I topped the outfit off with a pair of brogues from White Stuff. This is from White Stuff’s present range, which you can read about here.
That was my outfit on Saturday. I hope you like it and that it’s given you some inspiration. Please do leave a comment below with your thoughts.
Disclosure; I was provided with a GANT top for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions my own.
