Should I be a cool parent?

It was a dark night and we were driving home. It’s at such moments that I find my children can be at their most chatty and Helen was in a talkative mood, testing me, to see if I was a cool parent or not.

Looking longingly at acronyms my daughter didn’t think I’d know. Unfortunately for her, I’m quite well versed in these things.

A woodland scene

In a scene replicated in many households during half-term, granny came to visit. During her all-too brief stay, we went out and visited Leith Hill, a National Trust site near Dorking in Surrey.

Papoosegate and why using a baby carrier is not emasculating

I shouldn’t be writing this blog post. I had to have an argument with myself about the fact it would bring further attention to Piers Morgan and his high-profile comments about Daniel Craig using a baby carrier. I should know better, but I simply can’t help myself.

Here’s looking at you kid

Having learned that the secret to getting a good photograph can involve being somewhere at the right time, I paid a visit to the London Borough of Croydon just before sunrise. I had heard about an urban art festival called Rise and thought some of the art that was on display on the streets might look good in the early morning sunlight.

A striking piece of art on the streets of Croyodn. A part of the RISEfestival or urban art.
