Matthew also opened up to me about the mental health challenges he has faced. He was incredibly honest about the struggles he had in the early days of fatherhood.

This episode was a real rollercoaster. There was lots of laughter and also a few tears (though you may have to listen closely to catch them).

Okay, it took a bit longer than that in real life, but the end result was tasty. I also created a Cuban pasta dish, tacos all pastor (...which I had for breakfast) and murgh kari.

The great thing about SimplyCoook is that the recipes are simple, the deliveries are designed to fit through your letterbox and they create very little waste.

It’s actually an old image because I haven’t been into Central London in over a year. I was going through old images when I stumbled across this one and it got me thinking about ye olden days, pre-2020 when I’d probably visit the city once a week or so.

(Ad) Cooking pancakes on a gas grill. Yes, that was the first thing I cooked on the @charbroil_uk gas grill barbecue I’ve been using!!!

I’m a big fan of Charbroil. I’ve been using one of its gas grills for a couple of years. Indeed, Lockdown No.1 would have been much harder without it!

I’ve recently been trying out is Professional Core B3 gas grill. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a joy to cook on.

Awkward truths men need to hear: During lockdown, instances of domestic violence have increased, admissions to psychiatric hospitals have increased and so has many men’s alcohol intake.

That doesn’t make men a problem to be fixed. It means some men have health issues that need addressing and they’ve been exacerbated or created by a year of in / out lockdowns and stresses caused by COVID-19.

I’m delighted to feature an article by leading psychotherapist @noelmcdermott on the blog today. He explains how lockdowns have impacted on men...and provides some actions for men to undertake to improve their #health and #wellbeing. I won’t tell you it’s an easy read, but it’s an important read for all men or anyone else who is concerned about a male relative, partner or friend. Link is in the bio.
