Every now and again my children do something that reminds me, as a father, I’m in a position of great authority and that they trust me. It’s often a very simple thing, like stopping in the middle of a task and waiting to be told what to do.
There have been some awkward conversations with the children over the past couple of weeks. They have revolved around the various clubs and activities they both participate in. Unfortunately, something has got to give and the activities may have to be rationalised.
Are us fathers guilty of being “smug dads”? Do we simply fill our Facebook pages, Instagram feeds etc. with staged-managed images of our supposedly perfect family lives?
I’ve just returned from a marvelous day in London with Helen, my oldest daughter. It was just the two of us and we had a great time together.
