The Coca-Cola London Eye is more than simply a tourist attraction. It’s a well-established part of the London skyline and a fantastic piece of engineering. I have been on it a few times and love it, but would my children think the same way? There was only one way to find out.
I present to you here a view from the Coca-Cola London Eye. Broadly speaking, this is a view looking east and what you can see directly in the foreground is construction work going on in the South Bank area of the city.
I’ve not had a huge amount of time to dedicate to photography this week. I did, however, find myself in Parliament Square in Central London early on Tuesday evening and that’s where I took this image.
When The Shard was under construction, I would regularly catch the train into London Bridge and look up at the steel and glass monolith with deep suspicion. I couldn’t see how it was going to add to London’s skyline.
Picture the scene. It’s a grey, murky day. You have a seven-year-old child to entertain and your sister, who isn’t overly familiar with London, is making a rare visit to the UK from her home in the United States.
