National Tutoring Programme: What you need to know.

The Government introduced a scheme in England at the end of last year called the National Tutoring Programme (NTP). The NTP scheme was introduced to help children catch up on lost learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

What, however, do mums, dads and carers need to know about NTP?

On the blog (link in bio) you’ll find a Q&A with Simon Barnes of @tlc_live_tutors which is one of the organisations offering the tutoring.

Simon talks about who is eligible for the tutoring, what subjects it covers, how the tutoring is delivered and the safeguards that are in place.

#AD Going green with @ecozoneproducts.

I’m always looking for ways to green up the family. Over the past couple of months we’re been using Ecozone’s dishwasher tablets, oven cleaning gel, laundry capsules and fabric conditioner.

The oven cleaning gel has been superb, as have the dishwasher tablets and I was really impressed at how the laundry tablets cleaned at low temperatures.

Mrs Adams, meanwhile, loved the scent of the fabric conditioner.

This is a challenge during lockdown isn’t it? We’re all trying to work, do housework and oversee remote learning. While it doesn’t feel like there’s much to do, us mums and dads are very busy and I see parents admitting their kids’ screen time has increased.

@nightzookeeper is an option if you’re looking for a way to keep screen time constructive and educational. It’s a creative writing platform that enables youngsters to write and publish stories online in a secure, moderated environment.

It’s based on the Night Zookeeper books written by Joshua Davidson. There are prizes to be won and adult tutors will also review your child’s work before it is published. If your child doesn’t want to publish their work for other users to read, simply set the settings to private!

Each episode features a one on one, audio-only interview with a man who has a unique perspective on fatherhood. Since launching, men I have interviewed have included: A ‘Lockdown Dad’ whose child was born during the COVID-19 pandemic, a stepdad, a dad who spent many years in prison and a man who has accepted he will never have kids despite wanting them.

I started the podcast as an experiment, unsure whether to continue. I have decided to produce monthly episodes so watch this space (and I’ve also got a new set of recording equipment for producing future episodes. Will be putting it to good use next week when I record another episode!).
