I was just having a clear out of old photos on my phone. It was a really odd experience.

I stumbled across pictures of my kids at sporting events, pictures of my kids at birthday parties, of me larking around at the pub, of Izzy’s first communion of visits we made to friends and family...just lots and lots of events that wouldn’t be legal at this point in time.

The oddest thing is that these events happened just over a year ago or last summer, when the Rule of Six applied and life was a little-bit-normal.

I think, like many people, I’m so focused on dealing with the day-to-day demands of lockdown life I’ve almost forgotten how often we used to get together with people for a whole host of reasons.

It’s just so incredibly odd how rapidly life has changed. Over the past year I’ve lived a more frugal life and if I’m honest, I haven’t missed all the travelling I used to do.

Even so, I long for the day we can have friends round for Sunday lunch or to see the kids take part in gymnastics competitions again.

Oh and this picture, it’s one of Oban Harbour. We paid a visit last August. If you scroll through my grid you’ll find a few other images taken in Oban as well.

Snow, ice & a glorious sunset.

The weather has been bitterly cold this past week, but it’s also provided a break from the rain and mud soaked lockdown walks we’ve had over recent weeks (or is it months? I’ve lost track of time!).

We’ve been sledging, chucked snowballs and the kids have been sliding around on ice-covered puddles.

I took this picture a couple of days ago at sunset. There’s a bit of everything: Sun-flare, contrast, reflections, shadow, bright sun. I quite like it!

I speak with dad and disability campaigner Dan White. Dan’s wonderful sense of humour was never far from the surface, but his frustration at a support and welfare system that doesn’t work was very clear.
