Over the past few weeks a major change has happened in our household. We’ve become a two-school family. Helen, our eldest child has started at secondary school while Izzy has continued at her primary. I am sat on a train. Four rows in front of me is my daughter, Helen. She has told me we must sit apart and act like we we don’t know each other.
What a week it has been! I think this photograph makes a great metaphor for the past few days: The calm moments represented by the sunflowers and the sky representing the dramatic moments, of which there have been one or two.
It’s a confusing time for those of us who have children returning to school in the next week or so. With many children not having been in a classroom since March and a COVID-19 vaccination clearly a long way off, I’m hearing all sorts of opinions from mums and dads. Many are expressing unbridled joy
Last week was a funny old week. I was phenomenally busy as I prepared for the start of the weirdest of school summer holidays. It was also the week that my eldest child’s primary school days formally came to end…for the second time in four months.
