Buying white goods for the family

A VPN is an essential component of IT security, whether you’re just starting a business or are already up and running. Most business interactions and transactions happen online and VPN

We’ve reached a point in this household where we’ve had to consider buying a number of white goods. I’m sure most readers with children will relate to this.

The vacuum cleaner stolen off our doorstep did NOT look like this.
The vacuum cleaner stolen off our doorstep did NOT look like this. It was considerably younger and more valuable.

The simple fact of the matter is that life was simple when we had the one child. It was demanding, but simple. Then child number two came along and life got more demanding, but it was still reasonably simple, at least at first.

When child number two started on solid food, our freezer took quite a hammering as we started cooking meals for the entire family and freezing them to eat at a later date. Needless to say, baby won’t eat the same food as the rest of us so it’s full of tiny plastic containers filled with tiny portions of baby-sized meals. The lack of space in our present appliance means discussions have begun on replacing it and buying a really good quality fridge freezer in its place.

Shortly after baby started on solids, she started crawling and this coincided with big sister going to school. This is when life got even more complicated as we have to ensure there’s a constant stream of clean school uniforms working its way through the laundry.

For years we held out from buying a tumble dryer for environmental reasons. Alas, we recently decided our busy lifestyle, not to mention the British weather and my daughter’s ferocious appetite for clean school clothes, meant we had to give in. With some guilt we bought a dreaded tumble dryer and while it’s become a welcome addition to our household, I have declared it won’t be used in the summer months so that we keep at least some environmental credentials.

Oh, and then there’s the vacuum cleaner. Not too long ago we had one stolen off our doorstep. It was outside for no longer than half-an-hour waiting to be placed in the car but someone came along and nabbed it in the meantime.

As you can see, it’s been an expensive time for us. Thankfully, however, these labour saving devices are making life that bit easier for us and slowly but surely things are becoming more simple, even if it’s as demanding as ever.
