Writing a letter to teacher

Returning to school as a parent was a very strange experience. I recall on one of Helen’s first days in reception class, standing in the playground feeling terrified as she played on a climbing frame, the only kid to be doing so. I wasn’t sure if she was meant to use the frame and was terrified that I might get in trouble for letting her clamber over it. It was like I had reverted back to being a school kid and was worried about upsetting a teacher or, worse still, the headteacher.

The residential school trip

Just before the kids broke up for the Christmas break, Mrs Adams and I received an email from Helen and Izzy’s school. It was a very simple message, but my heart has been aching ever since.

Dollar Shave Club; A part of my morning routine

Mornings are always a busy time in our household. I think it’s the same in most families with young children. I will, however, always take the time to ensure I am well-groomed and presentable.

Dealing with the ‘post school slump’

After years of doing the school run, I have identified a new phenomenon. I call it the ‘post school slump’ and I’m wondering if this is something other mums and dads face too?

The post school slump: Get me out of here and take me to the park. Don’t speak to me on the way, but feel free to buy me an ice cream.

Going to a school open day….two years early

With Izzy having started in Reception class, my attention has swung back to my eldest daughter’s schooling. It may be a little soon, but I find myself researching the best secondary schools in the area.

I’m tempted to go to a few school open days, even though we don’t have to for another couple of years.
