Sheds are a dime a dozen, but how do you find one with interior style? How can you transform this outbuilding into something that’s functional, beautiful, and cozy all at the same time while facilitating as a workshop space or a home office? Let’s take a look.

Turn it into a minimalist oasis
You see a lot of shed owners turning their sheds into modern and minimalist oases. These have foldable desks and tables, storage ottomans, and clearly defined decor. These make the space feel larger and more inviting, especially when placed into the garden.
Just remember that minimalism means minimalism. These spaces should be focused and functional while also keeping the elements out.
Make it into a creative studio
If you use plastic shed bases for the structure, you can turn your shed into a creative studio. These are especially ideal if you want to work from home. It gives you a separate space to focus on projects, so you can deliver a high quality to your clients. It’s particularly suited to writers, artists, and hobbyists of all kinds. Plus you can design the space any way you want and aren’t constrained by your interior themes.
Turn it into a workshop
If you’re more practical, you might want to turn your shed into a workshop. You don’t have to be as careful as you are in the house, giving you more freedom to work on creative projects. You can also turn it into a space to arrange all of your tools so everything is within reach. A lot of people who go down this road start with overhead racks and built-in cabinets, then they add labeled bins and wall hooks and other things. And perhaps even a bench or a small seating area.
Create a cozy retreat
Finally, you could turn your space into a cozy retreat. You could make it into a sanctuary where you can unwind and relax after a long day. Just make sure you focus on the interior climate. If it’s too cold, you won’t want to spend any time in it. Vintage and farmhouse accents work best in this setting. If you can add white-painted reclaimed wood or shiplap to the design, you’re off to the races.
General advice for shed interiors
If you’re considering transforming your shed with your vision, here’s our general advice.
The first thing we recommend is mixing natural with artificial lighting. You want a combination of task lamps, fairy lights, and strip lighting if you can get it.
For the walls, make sure you use a combination of insulated board and beadboard. Adding vinyl panels to the exteriors is okay for comfort. For paint, make sure that it’s low VOC. You don’t want to be dealing with outgassing for months after you build the original interior.
If you have ugly exposed wood in your shed, look for ways to cover it up. The easiest way to do this is usually with pine panels, but you can also do it with storage.
