As with many blog posts, the inspiration for this one came following a casual chat with a dad. This guy has a child at a secondary school Mrs Adams and I have been considering for Helen, our eldest daughter.

I had the good fortune to meet Bobby Seagull a couple of years ago. In that time he’s become an increasingly high-profile advocate for studying maths and I can see why.

The words Parent Teacher Association and its acronym PTA can elicit the strongest of opinions from parents. I’ve noticed us mums and dads tend to fall into two camps: Those that are incredibly keen to help and those, the majority if I’m honest, who treat the regular requests for help and donations as an irritation.

I tried really hard not to write this blog post. I really did. After days of mulling it over, I simply can’t keep my thoughts to myself any longer. The issue that’s bothering me? How a school has attempted to introduce gender neutral school uniform and got it spectacularly wrong.
