It’s a sad fact of life: When you’re a dad, people can overlook you. Whether you’re a stay at home dad, single dad or someone who is part of a traditional family, most people focus on mum. We understand why this happens, but it’s important to us that dads are recognised too.

You deserve to feel confident as well, you deserve to feel loved, taken care of, appreciated. These are all the things that we encourage mums to feel as best they can. So, this one is for the dads. We’re going to take a look at how you can try and get some confidence back right now. Keep reading if you would like to find out more.
Practice What You Preach
The first thing that we’re going to recommend is that you start practicing what you preach. We bet that you tell everyone else in your family that they are amazing, that they are perfect the way that they are, and that there is nothing they need to change about themselves. If you can preach that to everyone else, why are you not preaching the same thing to yourself?
We understand that it’s a little harder to feel the things that you’re encouraging others to feel, but with some effort, you should be able to get there. You just need to remember that you are just as important as everyone else.
Try To Get Out More
The next thing that we’re going to recommend is that you try and get out some more. If you’re someone who stays at home frequently, or just stays at home and goes to work with nothing else to do, this isn’t going to be doing wonders for your confidence.
You need friends, you need a life, you need a hobby. All of this will boost your confidence. By doing things that are not just ‘dad things’, you will have your identity as a person back. A lot of the time this can be part of the problem. We’re not saying by any means that being a dad is a problem, or something you don’t want to do, but you’re a person too.
Consider What You Wear
Finally, you should be considering what you wear. What you wear directly impacts your confidence. Putting in a little effort could improve your confidence. We know that it’s difficult at times to care what you’re wearing, but we promise that it will make all the difference to how you are feeling.
If you’re constantly hiding behind clothes that are too large, or clothes that don’t make you feel good, this could be contributing to your low confidence. Instead, try going for something that you actually like, or something that you splash out on because it looks good. For example, look into getting a pair of fancy shoes such as men’s Alden loafers or something similar, and you’ll feel fantastic when wearing them.
We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you should be doing to get your confidence back, dad. We know that it can be tough, but you’ve got this.
