The introduction of shared parental leave was never going to be easy because it requires a huge shift in the UK’s working culture. A couple of years down the line, the law of unintended consequences seems to have come into play causing a hiccup or two.
The past few days have been a little testing. Last Thursday evening, my eldest daughter was complaining of feeling sick and the next morning she felt worse and had a temperature, so she didn’t go into school. It was just a little bug and she fine was by Saturday.
Just the other day I was given the opportunity to try and answer an impossible question. The question was thus: Just how are men and masculinity represented in the media and how does this reinforce stereotypes or, indeed, reflect positively on men.
It was the clocks going back that gave me a nasty shock. The clock radio in our bedroom had been 35 minutes fast for about two years. Mrs Adams and I never put it right because, apparently, we couldn’t figure out how to do it.
Just the other day, I set myself a question to answer: What was scarier, a bunch of schoolchildren or the rainforest? I was going into my daughters’ school to talk about my experiences in the rainforest.
