I wouldn’t normally wear headphones made of green plastic with frog-shaped ear-pieces. For the purposes of this review, however, I did!
This is a product very much as you’d expect. It’s made of of tough plastic and, you’d hope, would survive all the abuse a child could throw at it. It’s also worth noting the headband expands to a very large size. It fitted my five year-old daughter’s head perfectly but I was also able to use it without any difficulties.
The jack plug is sealed in protective rubber (it’s actually shaped like a fly on the model I reviewed). This is a nice touch as it’s not only protective but also makes it easier for little fingers to use.
I was pleased to see that the volume is limited to 85 decibels. That’s 20 decibels less than your average Mp3 player at full volume. It’s far from deafening but I personally feel that is still a touch on the loud side. That said, if it were any quieter I don’t think these headphones would be viable on an aircraft and that’s the one place I can image them being very useful (also on long car journeys). The advice I’d give is to make sure your children aren’t constantly using them at full volume.
The packaging states very clearly they’re designed for children aged three years old and up. I would bear this in mind if you are buying them. I must add my daughter has enjoyed using her Kazoos.
All things considered I think this is fantastic product for occasional use. We will soon be jetting off to visit family and we definitely be putting these headphones to good use on the flight!
