This image was taken on a visit to granny’s house last weekend. In this photograph we have three generations of Adams inspecting a flock of sheep while out on a pleasant stroll.
Starting on the right we have; Granny Adams, in her arms is Elizabeth, the youngest Adams, followed by Helen, who was making a futile attempt to feed the sheep and on the left is Mrs Adams.
The kids were over the moon to see the sheep in the field. They were very friendly animals too and ran straight over to us at the gate.
I was in two minds as to whether to use this picture because everyone is looking away from the camera. In the end I decided this added character and shows the image wasn’t at all set up or posed.
I hadn’t intended to use this as a black and white picture. For fun I flipped it from colour to B&W while editing and I thought it enhanced the photograph. I hope you’ll agree it works.

It definitely works in black and white. It’s a beautiful photo. I think having your subjects looking away from the camera can often be quite powerful.
Having the subjects facing away shifts the focus onto what they’re seeing and putting into black and white adds detail. A lovely photo of a moment in time.
I agree, some of my best photos are of the subjects focussing on the objects or each other. Sometimes looking at the camera can seem contrived.
Lovley bpic def one for the album 🙂
Great photo – works well in black and white and I think them all looking away from the camera makes for a much more natural shot, capturing the moment rather than a posed photograph.
I love a good back shot of people looking at something and those sheep look a bit transfixed!
Love how you have caught 3 generations enjoying nature together. #mysundayphoto
I think the black and white works really well. Great photo -I like that they’re not looking at the camera – they’re looking at what’s important to them in the moment! Looks like fun 🙂
Granny has different sheep to us but every bit as welcoming for you at the gate there. What a wonderful place to be able to go and visit with the children.
Beautiful family photo, I love the story it seems to tell and I agree it works so well in black & white
Thank you for linking up

I think you were totally right to use this photo. It really captures the moment. #mysundayphoto
Such a beautiful photo.
That’s one for the family album. Putting it in black and white makes it more striking and it totally fills the space, if you know what I mean
Love it, it’s a warm family photo
