A colourful find at Emmetts Garden

Earlier this week I decided to venture out into the wind and rain and take some pictures. It was a challenge to see what I could find to photograph in these horrible conditions and so after the school run one morning, I ventured off to Emmetts Garden, a hillside garden managed by the National Trust in Kent.

Despite the rain and wind, and the fact most of its peers had died back, this plant was continuing to flower. It was a noticeable dash of colour among the other plants.

Sunflower in decay

Sometimes beauty can be found in the strangest places. This image, for instance, is of a decaying sunflower. It was one of thousands of plants that made up a maze I visited with Izzy, my youngest daughter, earlier this week. I visited the same spot a few times over the summer months and back then, this sunflower would have been at least two metres tall, with a bright yellow head full of seeds.

A decaying sunflower. I found there was something captivating about the shapes and outline of this plant as it slowly rots.

Another obliging bee

You could be forgiven for thinking I have a thing about bees. This is the second ‘bee’ photograph I have posted on the blog in recent months but this particular bee was so obliging and the image so detailed I felt the need to share it.

This bee was so obliging it stayed in place for several minutes allowing me to take numeroud pictures. I love the detail of the image.
