I was minding my own business early yesterday morning, my head full of ideas to entertain my kids on the first day of the half-term break from school. I then spotted a news story on the BBC website. Had I been eating cornflakes at the time I’d have spat them out over my computer monitor
Just the other day I was given the opportunity to try and answer an impossible question. The question was thus: Just how are men and masculinity represented in the media and how does this reinforce stereotypes or, indeed, reflect positively on men.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve developed a real soft spot for the Movember charity. It’s annual moustache growing antics have become a well-established fundraising venture, just like Children in Need or Comic Relief.
As I get older, I’ve become much more aware of mental health issues. Part of the reason for this, I think, is that I’ve seen the impact on families when a mum or a dad develops a mental health condition.
