The other week I let off a bit of steam venting about girls’ school uniform. Today, however, I’m going to focus on the shoes girls have to wear. I put it to you that the choices available for primary school-aged girls are limiting and impractical.
This day was always going to come. Father Christmas has been the subject of playground gossip, with inevitable results for my eldest child, Helen.
I’ve come to the conclusion there’s something wrong with the world. The problem; the school uniform that girls are expected to wear. This might sound like a hard hitting statement to make, but having watched my eldest daughter at play, I think school uniform limits physical play and reinforces unhelpful gender stereotypes.
I’m a little confused about something. It’s to do with the SATS tests that schoolchildren are presently sitting across the land. My daughter happens to be one of them, sitting the Key Stage 1 (KS1) papers.
