The Fish With the Deep Sea Smile couldn’t have arrived at a better time. It happened to coincide with my eldest studying sea creatures at school. It was, therefore, packed off for ‘show and tell’ and read to the whole class.
Written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by (the appropriately named) Henry Fisher, this is the story of a family’s quest to find a fish with an amazing smile. The family’s journey takes the from poles to the tropics and uses rhyme throughout.
I generally find picture books like this to be entertaining with a hint of education thrown in. With a bit of geography plus rhyme, this title is equally educational and entertaining. I’d say it’s ideal for any children in reception class at school.
The Fish With the Deep Sea Smile is published by Parragon. It is available from Amazon and has an RRP of £5.99.
