Several years ago, I gave up my career and left full time employment. The reasons are complex, but I found I couldn’t balance fatherhood and family life. After years of writing this blog and engaging with mums and dads, I know I’m not the only man who feels this way.
The introduction of shared parental leave was never going to be easy because it requires a huge shift in the UK’s working culture. A couple of years down the line, the law of unintended consequences seems to have come into play causing a hiccup or two.
The past few days have been a little testing. Last Thursday evening, my eldest daughter was complaining of feeling sick and the next morning she felt worse and had a temperature, so she didn’t go into school. It was just a little bug and she fine was by Saturday.
