If ever there was a time to enjoy sitting down to enjoy a film with your family, it’s now. Not only is it the Easter break, but we’re all looking for ways to stay entertained while socially distanced. If you are looking for a film to keep you entertained, Jumanji The Next Level is now available to download and can be bought on DVD and Blu-Ray.
To mark the release of the fourth film in the Jumanji franchise, Helen, Izzy and I held a Jumanji-themed Easter egg hunt. Both girls recently watched the original PG-rated Jumanji film starring Robin Williams so they were very excited to take part in the hunt, which after finding numerous eggs, ended with Blu-Ray disk of the movie.
I wrote out clues for the girls to follow and even hid an egg under the hat I was wearing. In what seemed like no time they’d found all the eggs and the Blu-Ray and both kids were asking if we could watch it! Naturally, I agreed.
I’m obviously not going to say too much about Jumanji The Next level as I don’t want to spoil any surprises. Suffice it to say, it sees the cast of Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle reunited and travelling to a Desert called the Dunes.
Once again Jack Black plays Professor Shelly Oberon, Karren Gillan plays Ruby Roundhouse, Dwayne Johnson plays Dr Xander and Kevin Hart plays Mouse Finbar. As you’d expect, it’s a suitably madcap adventure they go on!
The gang travel back into the Jumanji game to look for their friend Spencer, who had been contemplating escaping back into the game because he was having personal problems. The games console malfunctions and the avatar’s get mixed up, leading to some amusing complications.
They are eventually reunited with Spencer and persuade him to come back with them. To do that, however, they have to go on a quest to find the Falcon Jewel.
I really can’t say too much more without spoiling the film suffice it to say there are run ins with mercenaries and Jurgen (Rory McCann) who makes life difficult for the Jumanji game’s players. There’s also a twist at the end involving the character Milo, who is played by none other than Danny Glover.
The film has a 12A rating so those under the age of 12 can watch it with an adult. It’s a fast-moving film and good family entertainment.
If you want to have some fun, you can also take a look at this Jumanji Instagram filter which will figure out which Jumanji The Next Level character you are. I gave it a go and discovered I was Ruby Roundhouse.
If you are a fan of the Jumanji films, I hope you get to see The Next Level very soon. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as the characters go on their latest adventure.
