A couple of months ago I had to get a prescription from the pharmacy. Both my kids were with me, so it was a bit of a challenge, keeping them entertained while the pharmacist went to get the medication. The pharmacist returned a few minutes later and apologised because the medication wasn’t in stock. I’d have to go elsewhere and Helen, my daughter, would have to come with me.
This is exactly the kind of scenario I would have avoided if I had used Phlo Digital Pharmacy. Phlo enables you to order medication from your GP and have it delivered to you. Within most of London you can have prescriptions delivered the same day but outside of London, delivery will be handled by Royal Mail.
Phlo has been established to provide convenience and ease of use and has received great reviews for far. Ordering medication via an app and having it delivered means parents such as myself can avoid having to drag children to the pharmacy or organise the collection of medicine around the school run. Anyone with a demanding job, meanwhile, can arrange to have medication delivered straight to their work so they don’t have to take time away from the workplace.
Here’s how Phlo works. First of all, you set up a profile on the Phlo website and select your GP on the menu. Once it’s confirmed your GP uses the NHS Electronic Prescription Service, you can nominate Phlo Digital Pharmacy to receive your prescriptions. The registration process is simple and takes less than three minutes.
This is where the app gets really clever. You can send your repeat prescription requests to your GP via the app. Once your GP approves your request, you will be free to order your medication and have it delivered to a location of your choosing (within London, you book a four-hour slot for your medication to be delivered). The app will also remind you when you need to order medication.
For anyone based in London, Phlo’s real-time, same-day delivery service is the first of its kind to be offered by an online pharmacy in the UK. The really interesting feature here is that you can track your order from placing it until arrival. Just like when you use Uber or Deliveroo, you can track the driver right to your door. This feature gives you piece of mind that your order is being processed and removes any uncertainty that it isn’t going to arrive.
Unlike most online pharmacies Phlo can also handle acute or one-off prescriptions that you only need to take for a certain period of time. If based in London Phlo can deliver this to you within four hours.
One further benefit of Phlo is that you can avoid having to discuss personal details in a busy pharmacy where you might be overheard. You can still talk to Phlo’s pharmacists on its live chat feature, email or on the phone. Prescriptions are also dispatched in plain packaging so no one would be any the wiser as to what you were having delivered (and a signature is required so packages won’t be left with neighbours or under door mats etc).
To find out more about Phlo, head over to its website. It takes just a couple of minutes to register and then you will be free to order prescriptions as and whÂÂen you need them.
