Aquaint is the latest in the range of sanitisers that have cropped up in recent years. I was inspired to give it a go following an unfortunate nappy changing incident in a service station on the M6.

The unique selling point of Aquaint is that it is made using only two natural ingredients; water and hypochlorous acid. I’d never heard of hypochlorous acid before I stumbled across Aquaint but it turns out it’s naturally produced by the body when fighting bacteria.

The packaging claims Aquaint will kill 99.9% of bacteria “in seconds.” Lacking extensive laboratory equipment I’ve had to take that claim at face value!

Aquaint is recommended for use on hands, fruit, babies’ dummies, milk bottles etc so it is very versatile. It’s also odourless and tasteless (yes, I went to the trouble of spraying this stuff on my hands and then licking them and no taste or ill effects!).

I also used Aquaint to clean several pairs of 3D glasses at a cinema. I was expecting to be left with a greasy film on the lenses but nothing of the sort happened.

You can buy it in two sizes; a family sized 500ml bottle with an RRP of £4.99 or a changing bag and hand luggage friendly 50ml sized bottle for £2.49.
