We recently visited Hever Castle in Kent. This was the family home of Anne Boleyn, famous for meeting a nasty end at the hands of her husband King Henry VIII.
The girls went along with a couple of friends and had a marvelous time. Thankfully the sun shone all day and the kids were able to explore the grounds and all it has to offer. I made a brief video (less than two minutes) showing what we all got up to on the day.
While there, we visited the Italian Garden. This is a truly magnificent garden that you can lose yourself in and pretend you are in Rome. We also explored the castle itself. Filming isn’t permitted inside so only the exterior features in the film. The kids also had great fun at Knight and Princess school and they killed loads of time simply running around, playing hide and seek and practicing gymnastics in the grounds.
If you do watch the video, you may notice the children are wearing completely different clothes at the end of the video compared to the beginning. This is because there is a “water maze” at Hever Castle. Step on the wrong paving slab and you get drenched. Needless to say, the kids did just that and had a great time doing so!
This isn’t the first time Hever Castle has appeared on the blog. It is an incredibly photogenic location and I’ve published photographs taken on the grounds here, here and here. It’s a fantastic venue and well worth visiting if you have young ones.
