Both my kids returned to school this week and in Helen’s case, started secondary school. You won’t be surprised to hear that I’ve been that busy worrying or making last minute purchases that I’ve struggled to get out with my camera. This fun image of a framed tree is one I took back in March when we were on our daily Government-mandated exercise (remember those days??).
We’d walked past this tree a few times and I thought it would look really good if it were framed. As luck would have it my daughter’s photography club was still operating online and the subject that particular week was framing.
I helped her take a few self portraits doing gymnastics while framed. Once we’d done that, I took a few pictures of this tree using my trusty frame.
It’s such a simple technique and one I’ve used several times. If I remember correctly, that frame cost me £1 from a charity shop so it’s proved to be a wonderful investment! One of my favourite framed shots is this one of a market in London.
Oh, and if you want to hear more about the return to school and Helen starting high school, come back to the blog next week. There’s lots to tell!
I’ve added this picture to the weekly #MySundayPhoto linky hosted by the Darren Coleshill photography blog. It’s a wonderful, fun, friendly linky where bloggers keen on photography showcase their work and I do encourage you to pay it a visit.

The idea of a frame is a great one and the shot turned out well John. Great that your kids have are avid photographers just like you. The photography club sounds great and different.
I always remember using a frame in art glass, a cool idea X #mysundayphoto
I’ve never used a frame for a photo like this, but it’s really effective!
Hope the return to school/ starting the new school went well.
I love your framed photos, there is more to it than just holding the frame up and taking a photo, I’ve tried and failed with copying this idea many times #mysundayphoto Hope back to school has gone well, what a time to be starting a new school, hope it hasn’t;t been too daunting for Helen
