With National Smile Month on the horizon (see below), this is the first of several dental care products my family and I shall be reviewing.
So what is Beverley Hills Formula Perfect White Black toothpaste? Well, as the name suggests it is a tooth whitening toothpaste. What makes it stand out, however, is the fact it is jet-black in colour because it contains activated charcoal!
Apparently the charcoal acts as a fine abrasive and helps remove stains. I was worried how this was going to affect the toothpaste’s taste but it is in fact a very pleasant mint flavour.
Has it given us all Beverly Hills-esque shiny teeth? In my case the answer is no but I don’t blame the toothpaste for this. I’m in desperate need of visiting the dental hygienist so nothing short of shot blasting is going to help me.
I can tell you that my wife loves the stuff. Again, I wouldn’t like to say there has been any noticeable difference to the whiteness of her teeth at this stage but she seems very keen to persevere.
Regrettably it hasn’t been such a big hit with the children. Our eldest was put off by the colour and I think it’s just a bit too minty for the baby. Ultimately, however, I don’t think this is a product aimed at children with milk teeth. I certainly wouldn’t have bought it specifically for them.
At £4.99 it has quite a steep RRP. If you really want white teeth, however, you might consider that a price worth paying.
For those interested, National Smile Month runs from 19 May to 19 June. More info about the event can be found here.
