Organising a family friendly event with zero stress and low costs

Haven Holiday venues aren’t just for relaxing breaks. They also make great, cost effective venues for hosting family friendly events and the experienced staff take the stress out of the situation. Organising a big family friendly event can be very demanding. I’ve done quite a bit of event organisation and holiday venues are often ideal for this type of thing.

Don’t, however, take it from me. This is what one acquaintance of mine who is heavily into his football, said:

“At the end of each season our amateur football club hosts an awards evening to reward the best players, share the season’s funniest moments and name and shame the most embarrassing moments. It’s a great fun getting all the players and their families together for a black tie do. I hardly recognise some of them in a suit instead of their football kit.

“Along with all the laughs comes a great deal of hard work and the expense of organising everything. You have to find a venue, book a decent caterer, sorting out table plans and arrange a DJ. There’s so much to do to make sure everything runs smoothly on the night. This year, my plan was to recruit some help.”

Holding our event at Haven

It turns out the club also goes on a group holiday. This year the team went to a Haven venue and it provided an ideal opportunity for arranging the awards ceremony.

“It’s not too far away and there’s tonnes of activities for everyone to get involved in, plus evening entertainment. There are parks all over the country so we knew we wouldn’t have to spend loads of money on transport getting there and the reasonable price of accommodation wass like music to my ears.

“When I was on the phone to our personal booking advisor, she asked me if we’d be holding any group events while we were there. Our awards evening immediately sprang to mind so I said yes straight away. I was more than happy to hand over the organisation of our awards evening to the professionals, particularly if they could help make it more cost-effective.”

Organising the event

“So far, organising the event has been seamless. You can hire a venue at Haven for up to 1200 people, which is more than enough for us, and a professional events organiser guides you through the whole booking.

“While I was in contact with the events organiser, she offered us meal options so that we didn’t need to book our own caterer and tailor-made every aspect of our event all the way down to the decorations. Since everything has been organised by Haven, we’ve already saved money that can be pumped back into organising more events for the club.

“Overall it’s been completely stress free organising this year’s awards evening now that we’re holding it at Haven. All that’s left to do now is to get my dinner jacket dry-cleaned and wait for the big event in May!”
