A curious sight in Hastings

A VPN is an essential component of IT security, whether you’re just starting a business or are already up and running. Most business interactions and transactions happen online and VPN

We had a special occasion to mark last weekend. To celebrate, we rented a house in Hastings for the night but when the kids woke up the next morning, they immediately demanded breakfast.

The remains of an old fishing boat on the beach at Hastings. I’d never have taken this picture had my kids not complained of being hungry and needing breakfast.

I went to see what I could find. This was not an easy task at seven am on a Sunday morning in a town I had never visited before.

It was the most amazing morning and so I took a detour along the beach. I stumbled across the the old fishing boat pictured above.

The sun had not long risen and it presented an amazing photo opportunity. I took a few different shots with my DSLR camera and my mobile phone.

This image, believe it or not, was taken using my phone. The DSLR pics were great, but this image benefitted from the wonderful sun flare (and you know I love a good sun flare).

I eventually found a shop and returned home with breakfast. Helen, Izzy and Mrs Adams were also very impressed with the photographs I had taken.

It being Sunday, I’ve added this blog post to one of my favourite blogging linkies, the #MySundayPhoto linky hosted by the wonderful Photalife blog. Click on the badge below to visit the linky.

While I have your attention, I’m just going to casually mention that I have some exciting news. I have made it on to the shortlist of the 2017 Dotcomgiftshop Blog Awards. You can read all about it in this blog post.

There are some great blogs on the shortlist and you will find Dadbloguk in the parenting category. I’m not going to give you the hard sell, but if you do vote and like what I do, I’d be delighted if you spared a thought for me and cast a vote for Dadbloguk!

  1. Good morning John, (yay!Got it right this week!), you’re up bright and early, don’t you sleep? You have managed to catch a nice sun flare in your photo. It looks a little like a hologram and well worth being out and about at silly o’clock on a Sunday morning.

    xx

  2. I thought it was a (small) viking ship at first. Beautiful shot. Love the sun flare. What an understanding family you have. I think I would have been told off if i’d put photos before food 🙂 Congrats on being shortlisted, well deserved. #MySundayPhoto

    1. Alas, it was not a Viking ship. The family never did discover why their breakfast was 30 mins late. Although they might do now!

I do indeed love a good sun flare! There has to be a good reason or heading out so early, forget breakfast the photo is awesome! Congrats with the nomination and good luck with the award!

    1. Yes, I may head out into the early morning again later this week. See what I can capture with the camera. Thanks for your good wishes.

  4. Great early morning shot John, I’m a firm believer that if we do a good deed (like being the hunter gatherer) then there is always a reward passed on. Whether it’s nature showing you something amazing or the sunrise or just something to catch your eye.
Have a great Sunday…maybe everyone can wait on your today 😀

    1. Do you know what, now I think about it you are right. The best images I’ve taken looking into the sun have generally been with my phone.

  5. Congrats on the nomination. And it’s a brilliant shot…definitely shows how early you were up with that sun flare. Hope brekkie was delicious 🙂
