As you can see, this week’s #MySundayPhoto features a herd of cattle. These aren’t just normal cattle, oh no, they are superb meteorologists.
As you may have gathered, there’s a story behind this image. I decided to take the toddler out for a walk on Friday. With her in the pushchair, I yomped up a steep path and came across these cows all sitting down on the grass.
Now I’m a country boy at heart and I knew this meant one thing; rain was imminent. The camera was with me because I’m still having fun experimenting with it (see last week’s #MySundayPhoto). I thought I’d get a few shots of these beasts before it started to rain.
Little did I realise how quickly it was going to start raining. No sooner had I taken this shot then drops of water began to fall from the sky. Added to this, the toddler was getting grumpy and so we swiftly made it back to the car before we got soaked and blown away by the impressive wind that was also unleashed.
Next time you see a herd of cattle sitting down, seek out some shelter. The theory they know when it’s going to rain is clearly true!

It’s a fabulous photo. I always think it’s going to rain when I see cows lying down, but I’ve never seen it happen as quickly as you.

Excellent photo, love the story too. It’s true the cows are excellent at predicting the weather.
Thank you for linking up and I’ll be voting for you.
Very ominous isn’t it? With us in south Wales today they wouldn’t know whether to stand or sit!
